FIA Camp organized by XOESE with the support of French Office of Development

Inter-regional institute on mobilizing financial and non-financial resources for women’s and young women’s organizations from June 6 to 10, 2023 in Abidjan.

The FIA camp brought together a total of 5 countries (BENIN, Burkina Fasso, Cameroon, Togo, Senegal).

It all started with a press conference at the Hôtel la Rose Blanche Abidjan on June 6, 2023 and a welcome dinner and get-together with all the participants at the Hôtel ONOMO.

On June 7, 2023 at 8 :30 am to 9 am Mr. GIM based study at the Ministry of Development Planning Gender Focal Point at the Ministry, opened the ceremony and welcomed participants. He declared open the work of the camp FIA, followed by words of welcome from the Camp Director.

After the speeches by Mr. GIM and the Camp Director, the FIA Camp Director presented the FIA Camp as a concept that brings feminists together in action to strengthen their ability to mobilize financial and non-financial resources for their organizations. The various specific objectives include raising financial resources, identifying available sources of funding, developing resource mobilization strategies, acquiring skills in writing funding proposals and using monitoring and evaluation tools to better mobilize. The FIA camp was a sharing of experience between recipients organizations.

After the training on mobilizing financial and non-financial resources, I personally learned a lot and now I know the difference between the financial and non-financial resources of my structure and I know innovative strategies for mobilizing financial and non-financial resources that can help my structure move forward. At Camp FIA we also learned how to get to know each other better and manage our projects, how to understand our environment so as to have a greater impact, how to plan a project and assess budget requirements. We visited the Ivoirian Network for the Defense of Children and Women Rights (NDCWR), where we shared their experience and provided financial support to a number of women in need to strengthen their income-generating activities.

On June 8, 2023, after the coffee break, the working sessions resumed with how to budget your budget needs, monitoring and reporting activities. And we ended the day with the psychology of teamwork and effective collaboration and career management.

On June 9, 2023, the most interesting part of the camp was the XOESE Meet-Up, where the panelists shared their experiences with all the participants, giving us advice on how to raise the visibility of our structures, how to attract financial partners, and how to mobilize financial resources without waiting for partners or calls for projects.

On June 10, 2023, after breakfast, we visited the park zoo, thus ending our camp adventure.

In my name and in the name of the whole organization, we say a sincere thank you to XOESE for having chosen us among so many organizations to participate in this FIA Camp in Abidjan.
